Todd Rhoades
Movement, health and wellness has been a huge part of my life for over 25 years. I began studying dance, then was introduced to pilates and yoga by dance instructors. These additional discoveries of movement helped to extend my professional dance career to over 20 years and helping me to overcome various health issues and injuries.
A chronic asthmatic for my entire life, I feel that I have been able to strengthen my diaphragm, understand my respiratory system and to maximize my breathing. Having suffered many dance injuries and surgeries, as well as a catastrophic accident, being struck by an out of control car as a pedestrian, movement has helped me return to a full life.
I have completed several intensive Pilates Teacher Trainings, many yoga teacher certifications, continuing education and training in Thai Yoga, Laban-Bartenieff Fundamentals, TRX, Barre certifications, Cardiolates, Aerial Fitness, Personal Training. Along with being the constant student, I have also developed teaching programs and have been a master teacher - adjunct faculty at the DePaul Theater School Pilates Instructor for Graduate Studies, developed/wrote/master instructor Aerial Yoga Teacher Training Program. Guest instructor for various professional dance companies and several opera companies' Young Artist programs.
Having been on faculty at many dance academies, pilates and yoga studios, chiropractic and physical therapy clinics, fitness and wellness studios, I have also been supervisor of Galter LifeCenter's Yoga and Tai Chi program, affiliated with Swedish Covenant Hospital, developing on-site yoga retreats, oncology and cardiology yoga programs with the hospital.
As well as working with professional dancers, while living in Austin, TX, I worked extensively with marathoners, triathletes and iron people - developed programs, workshops for all. While in Chicago, I was honored to work with the cast of Cirque du Soleil's Luzia, being their private pilates and yoga instructor and assisting with the physical therapy department of Luzia.
I am always excited to help others to connect to the bodies, accomplish goals and feel better physically and in turn feel better emotionally and mentally. Please reach out and see how I can help you. Best wishes!
